Computer hangs/freezes constantly

I built my first PC three months ago (though due to complications with getting a monitor i've only had it "working" for about a month) and ever since first starting it up have been trying to find a solution to this problem. The computer will hang at random intervals, and I have no idea why. It does it in safe mode, when doing a scan or trying to refresh it and simply when i'm using it normally. The only place it doesn't freeze (or at least as far as i've seen) is in the BIOS. I've tried every solution i can find on most of the Tomshardware forums i've found relating to this issue but to no avail...
So far i've tried reinstalling windows, usdating windows, using memtest (though not for very long, i must confess), using each stick of ram seperately, buying some extra case fans and monitoring temperatures (though it freezes anywhere between a thermal margin of 50 and 10, so i haven't found a correlation there), using each different hard drive seperately, updating all the drivers and nothing has worked...

My specs are:
Asrock FM2A88M Extreme4+ motherboard
AMD Athlon X4 880K "godavari" core
Gigabyte G1 1070 graphics card (where most of my budget went XD)
16gb Ballistix Sport DDR3 RAM
Toshiba P300 2tb HD
Adata SP550 120gb SSD
CorsairCP-9020098-UK VS Series 650W Power Supply

Please help me!

Sorry - didn't mean to select this as the best answer (got it mixed up with the reply button XD)
Do you think that the power supply would cause the computer to freeze though? I would've thought it would shut it down instead. Also, i have the AMD wraith, so it's supposedly as good as a hyper 212 EVO, and I can play games (well, before it freezes) such as bf4 on ultra with 20 degrees thermal margin.

Still, thanks so much for the quick reply!

Thanks for the help! I'll give it a try as soon as I can - I have some friends nearby who i can ask, but I'm not sure when I'm next seeing them. Also, are there any power supplies you have in mind as a replacement if this is the problem (which, looking at what others have said about them, seems more likely now XD)? I checked and found that my computer only seems to use about 320W, so i was thinking maybe a 450W power supply would be ok

A small update:
I haven't been able to get my hands on a power supply just yet, but I was using my computer and noticed that as long as I am playing games, it won't freeze; i started it up and within about 10 minutes of me having it idling (i was downloading bf4 at the time) it froze, but then i restarted it, got Black ops up as soon as I could and then was able to play games from about 10 until 1 without it freezing. However, after about 5 minutes after finishing playing for the night (i played a few and just switched between them as quickly as I could) it froze once again. Is it still looking like a psu problem, or could this be something else? it's done this quite a bit, so i know it's not just an anomaly.

I've also just gone into safe mode again and it isn't hanging, so the first time may have been an anomaly.

As everyone said above, try another PSU as that one isn't really good

What OS are you using? If it's Win 7 try upgrading to Win 10, check SSD and HDD cables and try different memory slots... btw AMD Wraith isn't as good as a Evo 212, plus your CPU can't be at 20° unless you're in Siberia or something lol

Hi Elysian,
I'm using windows 10 at the moment (i used to have windows 8.1 but upgraded it to win 10 to see if that would stop the freezing' i've upgraded and reset the hard drives a few times to see if it might just be that some files were left out when it installed, but to no avail).

I'm going to try and find someone from whom i can borrow a power supply, but so far my friends who have PCs have prebuilt ones so taking theirs out would void their warranty.

I'm sorry, i probably wasn't clear in my thread about the temperatures, though north England is cold as well at the moment XD Thermal margin is the difference between the current temperature of the CPU and the max temperature, so the higher the better (usually ~20 c whilst gaming is pretty damn good and mine usually runs at about 25-30). I'll still look at getting an EVO, but I feel the psu is the more likely culprit. However, the computer has only frozen in the bios once so I wonder whether it is more of a software issue.

Ok, so my friend just came round with his 850W power supply and we put it in, but it didn't solve the problem; it froze after a few minutes. So i've tried using a different power supply, tried using each ram stick separately and each hard drive separately and nothing works. Is this looking like a cpu or motherboard problem?
Also, it seems to be ok when playing games; it will freeze within 5 minutes when not playing games, but i can play things like black ops and crysis for hours without it hanging.

What do you think?
