So my mom got a new PC for her job,but when I checked it I noticed that it had a better processor than my own PC so I decided to keep that PC.The thing is that my PC has a better GPU,PSU and I want my files(Hard Drive). So I thought of this: take out all those components and move them to the new PC. My question is will there be any problem with this ? Moving my hard drive to a new PC (new PC means new motherboard of course),so that all my files will not be deleted.
Note: i cant move the new processor on my current PC since it has a different socket.Thank you !

the only way moving your hdd has a chance of working without a reinstall is if your new hardware is exactly the same as the old.you may get away with a cpu change (maybe),but unless that new board is the same as the old one you will encounter problems.likely it wont even boot.

as far as I remember, when i made an upgrade on my current PC,i bought a new mobo, replaced it without even uninstalling a driver or windows.i just booted it and windows was there, just like with the old mobo.

There is no 100% either way.
Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it does, but you find lingering issues later.

I would generally recommend a clean install just to be thorough. Backup all the files you wish to keep before you format the drive, of course.
