New CPU (suggestions?) or GPU (1070/1080)

So, I'm looking to get a new card or CPU (I'll take CPU suggestions) with the new games coming out like Titanfall 2 (wants a new CPU with this and many other games), but was pretty set on a new GPU (will also take suggestions here too, but somewhere around 1070/1080 would be nice, pelase). But every time I look up games to see if I can run them, they all basically ask for a new CPU so I get confused onto what is best. People say new GPU but the games themselves say new CPU, so I'm at a cross roads. Sorry about getting late on the build but I use currently an i5-4690k, with a gtx 970 and 16 gb of ram. Anything else you need to know, don't hesitate to ask, sorry if I respond late and thank you in advance if I personally forget to do so! (P.S. keep in mind I know almost nothing about computers themselves, but how to build them, sorry if that causes inconvenience in advance, too)

GPU. The game recommends a i5 6600 but the performance difference is not that different and a GPU will benefit you VASTLY more.

I suggest of the two a GTX 1070 unless you play at higher than 1080p, well the 1070 would also be good for 1440p. That will be like getting a GTX 980Ti with 8GB of VRAM.

A 1070 would be almost double a GTX 970.

Solution
Titanfall 2 and any current game will run just fine on that i5.

If you REALLY want to upgrade, a 1060 wouldn't quite be worth it, and a 1070 is a little bit overkill for 1080p.

Honestly, hold on to the 970 for another year and the i5 for another year or two and you'll be in a better position to spend lots of $ on hardware that is substantially better than what you have now.

FWIW, Titanfall 2 runs on my 970 @ Ultra settings @ 1080p at an even 60 FPS (I cap my FPS - 60 Hz monitor)

Really? it runs that well with a 970? jeez, maybe I don't need an upgrade. Thanks for the suggestion/idea and the help!
