I forget what I saw, it's said that a SATA port has a short life, you shouldn't insert it and take out the cable too many times or the SATA port on the hard drives will get damaged.

Is that real?

I have more HDDs installed on my chassis than the power cable and SATA port I have, as a result I have to often take out the SATA and power cable . Yes, I know about external enclosure but my office is really too small (I'm NOT in big countries like USA)

That's correct, they are not designed to be repeatedly connect/disconnected like a removable. You take your chances. And before you ask, nobody can tell you, oh, it's good for 500 plug/unplug and it will die on the 501 disconnect.
