Questions about building a gaming PC

So, first off I have never built a PC, have been playing on console for years, haven't owned a desktop for about 8 years lol

Now, with that in mind I want to potentially have one of my brothers friends build it for me/guide me through the process, but if that fails are they any reliable suggestions other than building it myself? I understand the aspect to it, but I'd much rather watch & learn, then fail & learn especially considering replacing all the parts is out of my budget.

Finally, the build! I've decided to go with newegg.ca for all of my parts + peripherals. Keep in mind the pricing shown is for the American site, the Canadian site is a bit pricier. Overall, everything comes to $2055 (wish list value) not including additional warranties ($100ish) and shipping/handling + taxes. So my guess would be between $2200-2300 ball park. Add on the potential $100 for build fee and it's close to a $2.5k rig. Now my budget shouldn't exceed $2000CAN so with that in mind I would appreciate any and all help and advice!

Yea, I was trying to help another person, earlier, and also ran into that. A cheaper option, to my previous build.

Build looks good however I would change a few things to save a bit of money/ (would post PCPP list but site isn't working ATM).

-Change thermal paste from AC5 to MX4 as its less conductive and will work good on the GPU as well as CPU.

-Change PSU from Corsair RMx to EVGA B2 750W as it's still a high quality unit but should be cheaper. You can also go with less watts such as 550-600W unless your planning on eventually getting another 1070.

-Change Seagate to WD Blue as its a much more reliable HDD. You can also change the SSD unless you need that much space, for gaming though only a few games take advantage of those higher loading speeds such as the Battlefield series.

Besides those recommendations the build looks good. As far as building it finding someone who know how to do it and will either do it for a little bit of cash (I recently built a system for a friend for $50 *4.5 hours total for build/OS/Driver Install*) or pizza/beer is always good. There are however plenty of guides online that will show you how to build it.

Yeah, I noticed that about the site as well, strange. But thank you for the suggestions, I will definitely play around with the configuration. As for build goes, I think I will get someone I trust to build it so I can still learn. For types of games, honestly, I've been playing console for forever, so I really want to play total war warhammer (will most likely be my most played) as well as other total war games and maybe some mods, also would like to try out skyrim or gta down the road.

A fine build.
Looking to save a bit, I can't suggest much.

1. The 212 evo will come with paste; AS5 is not needed.
2. Any Z170 motherboard will do the job. Asrock Z170 pro is cheaper
http://pcpartpicker.com/product/fcqbt6/asrock-motherboard-z170pro4s
3. buy the cheapest DDR4 kit of 2 x 8gb you can find. There is negligible performance for fast ram. Fancy heat spreaders are worthless.
4. Defer on the hard drive until you actually need the space. And... WD is more reliable.
5. Shop price on the GTX1070. There is not an important difference in performance among all of them. Fancy coolers seem to fetch higher prices. A mildly factory overclocked version is usually worth it. Compare boost clocks to get an idea of performance differences. The percent difference will be small.
6. GTX1070 needs only a 500w psu. Nothing wrong with more. I do not put a high value on modular or gold rating.
Seasonic 520w M12II is a good tier 2 unit for less.

Okay thank you! I will play around with some of the parts and see what best fits my budget! I'm also thinking of getting a cheap keyboard/mouse (upgrade later) just to save on cost a bit. I'm getting a 144Hz monitor for Christmas so 1440p at ultra would be nice! And absolutely, I will definitely ask to learn as it will help me out down the road

PCPP has a canadian option. Crucial MX300, 525gb is a good alternative, and a good deal cheaper, than that 850 evo. That corsair PSU is a bit overpriced, as well. Deepcool Gamaxx 400 is a another decent alternative.

I took of the pricing of the peripherals, seeing as I can always squeeze them into budget and upgrade at a later date, after taking in all of your suggestions I've made some minor adjustments, the largest being a switch from the MSI m5 to the MSI m3 for a considerable price drop. I've now managed to get the price slightly below $1800 which is very reasonable, thanks again for the help!

Okay, thank you both for help with a general layout of my what my build should look like given its budget! I'll definitely base my final decision on your builds, potentially make minor tweaks just for preference. Thanks again!
