Unable to connect via an ethernet cable

For the past year and a half, I have been using a wireless adapter to connect my desktop to the internet. Just today I recieved an ethernet cable that I am now trying to connect to the internet with, however my computer won't recognize that the cable is installed, or that the ethernet port is even there. Is there any way I can reenable the port so that I can have a wired connection again?

Turns out that was all I needed to do, I posted this question as I was downloading the driver (I'm a little impatient). Thanks for the response!
