Hi guys,

I'm doing my first build and will be buying the ASUS z170a motherboard, I've already bought my RAM as it was on the compatibility list for this board ( CORSAIR Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 2666) so 16GB RAM in total

I've heard ppl having issues with RAM on this board....:(

Which way should the modules be installed ( one in 2nd slot and other in 4th?) If it doesn't work with the correct RAM orientation, should I try a BIOS upgrade from the website? Should I automatically download the most current Drivers & BIOS when I install my new ASUS z170a?

The members @ Toms Hardware have been extremely helpful in the past so it only makes sense to come here and ask my questions, thanks.

Always do bios update. In the manual says which channels are used for dual channel optimization. Most of time 1,3 or 2,4.
Also when you all done. Go back to bios and enable XMP profile to get optimal performance from your RAM if it has that option.

Now days majority of bios updates are executables, download, run as admin and let the updated do the rest. As far as drivers windows may already have some and CD for the motherboard usually has software that updates all at once or you may need to run each update after system reboots and come back ON.
