Hi guys I have a first gen i7 960 bloomfield running at 3.7ghz with 6gb of ddr 3 ram.

I have just had my 3rd Evga gtx 770 2gb sc fail on me and I have had enough.

Now I was thinking about just grabbing a cheap msi gtx 1050 ti because my monitor is only 1680x 1050, and i know ill be off and running where i was before maybe with a small performance increase?

But I was also looking at the gtx 1060 and I know with my current monitor, that would not be worth it. But I was wondering do you think my system would bottleneck a 1060 if I got a 1440p monitor or do you think that would be a step to far for my system?

Many thanks in advance!

Solution
1050ti probably about the same or slightly faster than 770. 1060 would be better if you want something faster than your old 770. CPU probably not much of an issue as long as being OCed.

Thanks for your answer. While your here if we took this to the extreme and i bought a gtx 1080, could my system push that enough to game at 1440p and high settings?
