I am looking to overclock my amd cpu (A8-5600K)
I am unexperienced with overclocking and would like some help and information in how to overclock my cpu to the point that it won't bottleneck my gpu (MSI R7 370 4GB OC EDITION)
My specs are:
--------------------------------------------
motherboard: FM2A88M-HD+
8 GB of ram
Cpu: A8-5600k @3.7 GHz
Gpu R7 370 4GB OC EDTION

Solution
Chasing 60fps can be a nearly bottomless pit for money. Gaming can be an expensive hobby if you're not willing to compromise a little bit. In some games (Arma) no amount of money will buy you 60fps. In AAA games like Battlefield, nothing short of an Intel Core i7 ($300 + motherboard + RAM) will keep you above 60. For the vast majority of games a Core i5 will get you there, but really your A8 will probably play most games "alright".

On socket FM2/2+, there are no better CPUs. The A10-6xxx APUs are really just a refresh, with the same CPU. The A10-7xxx APUs have a newer CPU architecture with slightly better performance per clock, but they have lower clockspeed and still perform around the same. FM2+ is a dead-end in terms of upgrades...
There's no such thing as overclocking to the point it won't bottleneck your GPU. Any CPU will bottleneck any GPU in some circumstances, it's more a matter of having a fast enough CPU to get the framerates you want in the games you play. Overclocking will help a little (10-15%) but even a highly OC'd FM2+ CPU will still not deliver 60fps in many modern games.

In a nutshell, you'll be raising your multiplier, stress testing, then raising your multiplier again until it becomes unstable. At that point you have the option of either backing off a little, or adding voltage and continuing.

So what's a budget option for a CPU that will get 60 fps in modern games with my current specs or do I need to get a new motherboard and RAM etc.
I think my GPU is good enough right?

FM2+ is a dead-end in terms of upgrades, so if you want something faster, you'll need to change sockets. But, don't let anyone else tell you that you need to spend money, if you're happy with what you have.

EDIT: Your GPU is basically the same as mine. It's a rebadged HD78xx, which was a mid-range card in 2011. I find I can run older games maxed, MOBAs maxed, and newer games well enough at medium-ish settings. Some games I have to drop to low to get 60 in.
