i am currently trying to get some parts to fix my desktop and am looking to go with a skylake build with an Asus H170 PRO GAMING motherboard but when looking at ram all i can find is ram that is advertised for the Z170 or X99 chipset and when i can not find the exact part numbers in the QVL list for some types of ram but pcpartpicker does list ram like this when using the compatibility filter
the parts i am looking at are as follows
CPU: Core I5 6500 or I7 6700 both non-K
Motherboard: Asus H170 PRO GAMING
Ram:
G.Skill Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2133 or
Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2133
