I purchased an Edimax wifi usb adapter (EW-7711ULC AC450 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00WT80LPK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and it was working fine as of last week. Recently I decided to do a fresh install of windows 7 (same operating system) and after installing the drivers from Edimax site (http://www.edimax.com/edimax/download/download/data/edimax/me/download/for_home/wireless_adapters/wireless_adapters_ac450/ew-7711ulc) my wireless speeds are extremely slow.

I am using the same computer in the same location as before, the only thing that has changed is a fresh installation of windows 7 (and possibly the driver as I wiped all of the old ones).

I have verified that the speeds when hard wired are much faster. Any ideas as to how I can fix this?

Thank you for the quick response. Unfortunately the computer is a few years old and the drivers supported on the manufacturers site support windows XP/ windows vista only (http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/product-support/product/optiplex-755/drivers). I tried installing windows 7 drivers from here (http://www.driverscape.com/manufacturers/dell/laptops-desktops/optiplex-755/119) but it seems to have not made a difference.

Should I try and buy the original recovery disks that came with the computer? or do you believe another solutions would be better to pursue?
