Hi,
I need your help for choosing a new SSD for my old desktop.
I have a ASUS P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3 Intel Z68 with already 2 SSDs, but I need more space now, so I need a 512 Gb or more for windows + software.
I plan to completely change my desktop mid 2017, so, If it´s possible or worth, would be nice to already get a good, kind of future proof SSD. But If it´s kind of unpredictable where tech and price will go, maybe the opposite direction can work... I mean, to get a cheap one now.
I mostly run adobe photoshop and premiere, so I need power for converting raw photos and video rendering. So, I currently have a system SSD and a current projects / cache / temporary SSD. I don´t run games or so.
I know that most performance will come from processor, but I need a new SSD anyways because my 190 gb is not enough for system files anymore. So I´m looking for a 512 minimum.
I´m not updated anymore on the subject, so I have the following questions:
- PCIe SSDs have a really big performance upgrade or is it just the size that makes sense for laptops or so ?
- If they are better... are they compatible with my current mobo ? It has PCIe 3.0 and 2.0, but not sure If it needs other kind of chipset, bus or whatever.
- Can you recomend some models ? I intend to buy still this month...
Thanks in advance
