Is this problem caused by my hard disk's slow write and read speed?

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-78LMT-S2 Micro ATX AM3+
Hard disk: TOSHIBA DT01ACA 100 ATA (1TB)
RAM: 8GB

Here is the issue I have when I play Anno 2205: After I entered into the game, each sector I need to load them in order to enter. At the beginning everything is smooth. Then after I swift between each sector for several time, it starts becoming lagging even at the first 10 minutes game play. Sometimes the game even freezed.

In the task manager:
CPU is around 96% usage
Memory is around 90% usage
Disk is 100% usage

That's why I guess my game lagging is caused by the hard disk.
Are there any solutions to this? Do you suggest me to buy a new one? Which one do you recommend?

Thank you so much!

Additional information:
CPU: AMD FX(tm)-6300 Six-Core
GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 970

I divide my hard disk into three local disks:
C: 466 GB (319 GB free)
E: 270 GB (94.1 GB free) (Anno 2205 is located in local disk E)
F: 193 GB (46.5 GB free)

Sounds like you're out of ram, and the system is busy loading from the drive to ram. Before running the game, try closing everything else (other software, web browsers).

It's a bit weird that your CPU usage is so high also. Do you have an active anti-virus? Try disabling it before launching your game.
Hi there Hardwarechild,

If you think that there's something wrong with your drive, it would be a really nice idea to back up the data stored on it.
After that, you can just test it and see if there's something wrong with it: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/282651-32-best-diagnostic-testing-utility

Keep in mind that the issues you are facing may not be caused by a faulty drive.
It seems that all of your components have high usage.

I believe you can check your system's temps. Make sure it is not overheating.

Let me know how this goes,

According to the results, it seems that there are no bad sectors on the drive.
Yet, these drops are unusual.

What is your OS? Are you facing this high HDD issue when not gaming?

One thing you can try is to attach the drive with different cables to another port. Which port is it attached to? Usually, you OS drive should be attached to port 0.

Does this thing happen when playing another, less demanding game.

Cheers,
D_Know_WD :)
