Some of you may think that this topic is better suited to the Ubisoft and Rockstar Forums (since the games that have no sound after the loading screens and logos at the beginning are GTA V and Far Cry 4), however the forums over there are just filled with idiots going: "Oh, same problem here, no fix" or "Nope, didn't work for me ". I thought I'd ask some people with a bit more knowledge.
I recently installed a GTX 1070 after previously using an R9 380 (both cards are MSI). The sound on all my games works fine except for GTA V and Far Cry 4. As I've said, the sound on the intro logos at the beginning of the games work fine, but when I'm actually in the game, there's no sound whatsoever.
I've spoken to a tech professional who told me to change the in-game audio settings because it doesn't appear to be a lead issue with my DVI cable (I have a 144Hz monitor and don't wanna use HDMI and I don't have a HDMI 1.3 for 144Hz). If that didn't work he said bring it into the store and they'll fix it, but the store is in the city and it's physically difficult for me to go and bring the whole computer in due to time management.
Here are the things I've tried:
1. Uninstalling Nvidia High Definition Audio from "uninstall software" in the control panel just in case Nvidia was only using HDMI audio for certain games.
2. Making sure that my speakers are set to Realtek HD Audio in the playback settings (right click on taskbar sound icon and go playback settings).
3. Deleting XAudio2_0.dll, XAudio2_1.dll, XAudio2_2.dll, XAudio2_3.dll, XAudio2_4.dll, XAudio2_5.dll, XAudio2_6.dll, XAudio2_7.dll which are located in System32.
4. Deleting x3daudio2_0.dll, x3daudio2_1.dll, x3daudio2_2.dll, x3daudio2_3.dll, x3daudio2_4.dll, x3daudio2_5.dll, x3daudio2_6.dll, x3daudio2_7.dll located in SysWOW64.
5. Updating GPU drivers, Realtek sound drivers, motherboard drivers and DirectX (I'm currently on Windows 10 using Dx12).
If any of you could help, then it would be GREATLY appreciated.
