Looks like your laptop motherboard has socket G2 PGA 988B on it.
this wiki link contains all information about the socket on your mobo, including the supported processor.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socket_G2
There are lots of processor that can be installed on your socket as an upgrade, but now it depends on your mobo chipset can provide the support for upgraded processor otherwise it will not boot at all.
Upgrading laptop processor is not recommended because each processor have different power consumption and TDP.
for example: you upgraded your i3 to i7, then your battery drain faster and it runs hotter than your old i3. Because the power consumption and TDP of i7 is higher than the i3.
I recommend you to upgrade your RAM to 16GB, with pairing two 8gigs DDR3-1333 SO-DIMM sticks together. Or replacing your old HDD with SSD, it will gain significant performance boost for your laptop. the ram and storage upgrade is the max component that you can safely upgrade in laptop system.
