Is there a risk of static-frying an entire PC system if a cat sleeps on my PC?

When we first found our cat back in 2010, it was a kitten that used to sleep on top of our PC because it was warm. We thought nothing of it at the time, but now, I'm worried that since my PC is going to be in my bedroom after its built that my cat, who is much bigger now, will likely be a static 'bomb' of sorts and I don't want him to fry anything in the middle of the night.

Also, don't say "just close the door" - my cat actually knows how to open the door by reaching up for the handle.

Are cats risky static bombs, or should I rest easy?

Solution
As long as the case is closed and not left open, there should be no issues.
provided following is true (just in case)
computer is attached to grounded electrical outlet.
case is made of metal.

in above case, whatever static cat might release, gets to the case and is grounded through the power cable causing no harm or issues to the insides.

Edit: Other possible problems that the cat might cause
Bumping the case over, especially if it's tower type.
getting tangled in the cables in the back
chewing some of the cables
