Hey guys,

Just like the title says. Which would be best for gaming? I heard that games actually prefer less cores and i7 are built for overclocking. Though would these Xeons handle games well even though overclock isn't an option with them?

neither... There will be better options, the i7 is 7 generations old now...
If you have to have one of those two only, then the Xeon, BUT beware of how windows handles 2 CPU's, it will not be pleasant to work with and may cause problems, least of which is 2x150W CPU's the PSU load is 3-4 times normal, the noise would be horrendous. Ram sharing, each CPU has it's own memory pool. They are not for the inexperienced.

ah yes I'm experiencing problems already with 2nd cpu already overheating more than the first :( ideally I would have liked to have just the one machine so deciding if the Xeon is good enough for now. Do you know a good benchmark test I can try on both? I have a Titan x card I can use in both to test.
