24pin connector won't latch to motherboard

I recently bought a supernova 750 g2 psu every cable connects fine besides the 24pin motherboard connector. I've gotten it to go down all the way multiple times (reseating it) and the stubborn latch refuses to hook. Would it be okay if I tried turning it on because it's snug in there but the latch won't hook no matter what. I've even tried giving the board some support with my hands just so it wouldn't snap. I've been trying for maybe 2 hours now and I give up. I don't know why it won't hook the last time I've did it I had no issues. My motherboard is a z97m-ds3h gigabyte mini itx.

if its on nice and tight shouldnt be a problem

but if you move your pc about always the chance it might pop off with out it latched

Thanks it's in there pretty tight and takes a lot of force to pull it out but I didn't know if it could somehow damage my commponets thanks a lot!

should be fine have done it myself once or twice with boards that just flexed too much and would have meant taking the whole pc apart to put the board on

something flat so the 24 pin would latch down

Yeah thanks alot again but I think my problem wasnt it not latching down more so i was holding the latch open when pushing down and might be my problem on why I didn't hear an audible lock in sound.
