anyone with 4gb below gpu experience stuttering on rise of tomb raider when texture quality is turned to very high?

im using rx 470 4gb paired with i5 4460 running on windows 7.

whenever i crank the texture quality to very high it just stutters so bad, but when i turn it texture quality on high and every settings on very high its buttery smooth.

i see on youtube benchmarks the rx 470 can achieve 60+ fps on rotr using very high presets. but thats not the case for me.

Solution
with texture set to very high i can see VRAM usage peg around 4000mb. but don't see any massive stutter. but it could be because of win 10. this is my personal experience with my old 660SLI. the card only have 2GB VRAM. when i purposely set the texture where the usage exceed 2GB (shadow of mordor) i will get stutter (win 7). but with win 10 even if VRAM usage was peg at 2GB+ (riva tuner actually show VRAM usage exceed 2GB with win 10 where as with win 7 my VRAM usage will be shown at 2048mb max) there is no stutter at all. so i suspect win 10 probably have better way to handle stuff preventing massive stutter when gpu VRAM not enough.

still stuck on windows 7, but the benchmarks on youtube show that even on dx11 it runs just as good only some fps lower compared on dx12. still they use very high presets, while for me i max out everything except for texture quality i keep it on high because if i turn it on very high stuttering starts up.

maybe they were using mix setting between high and very high. when changing the setting from high to very high for texture a reminder will come out that very high is meant for cards that have more than 4GB VRAM. you can change the setting on the fly while in game. going from high to very high is very subtle.

does your gtx 970 suffer the same as mine when turning on texture quality on very high? that is the only setting that bring stuttering on my game, everything else is set to max.
