I recently got a Dell gaming monitor (1ms response time, 165hz refresh rate, 2k (2560x1440p)). I've been trying to optimize the card for different games.

System specs
CPU: Core I-7 4790k @ 4.0Ghz
GPU: EVGA reference GTX 980 4GB
Mem: 16 GB of 1600Mhz ram
MOBO: MAXIMUS VI HERO

I'm trying to get a rock solid 120fps in Overwatch at at least 2k resolution. Additionally, I'm attempting to get 60fps in BF1 at 2k high settings. Is that achievable with this system?

Solution
I just tested the first few minutes of the Battlefield 1 campaign using the ultra preset at 2560x1440 with DSR and I got an average of 71 fps with a minimum of 58. The framerate only dropped below 65 once. I don't own Overwatch so I can't test it for you personally, but looking at benchmarks online, you should get just above 60 fps at max settings. If you tune the settings, I think you could get over 120 fps, depending on how low you are willing to put the settings.

Edit: I just retested Battlefield 1 with some adjustments to the graphics settings:

If I turn off AA, Post Processing and HBAO I achieve an average of 96 fps with a minimum of 84.

If I turn all of the graphics settings to low, I get an average of 152 fps with a minimum...

If you'd like me to test some other settings like the medium and high preset, let me know and I'll do that for you :)
