How long would an average pc last?

I really don't know how long an average Desktop Pc would last... Earlier I bought a second hand ddr2 cpu(could not remember the info of the CPU) that last only 6 months while I tried my best to keep it alive for longer... A powerful shut down occurred and then BOOMMM... DEAD!!!

Then the second time I bought a second hand motherboard which again lasted 2 FREAKING YEARS!!! :((((

I bought a combo Esonic motherboard 4/5 months back will it too shut down to death?

How long would it survive?

Well, second hand stuff, you don't know what the owner did to it. I take decent care of my computers. I have an Intel Pentium 4 HT machine from 2002 that still works, and a small army of functioning Pentium 3's in my basement. An overclocked AMD Phenom X4 black edition machine died at 9 years of age. In fact, there's only one desktop I've had that has died within 5 years of me owning it, and it was an alienware with a no-name power supply that fried everything.

Decent parts quality motherboards can last a long time. CPU's don't have a shortened life span unless overclocked or used under stressful heat conditions often.
