Hi All,
I am facing problem while trying to access my below HDD
Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 500GB (FW : 3.AAH) with external enclosure of NEXXTECH with power supply input and USB access.
It was working fine since last 8-9 years until now.

Now when i connect this HDD to my windows 10 laptop, it gets connected and disconnected every 4-5 seconds.
I tried connecting to Laptop with Windows Vista to face the same issue.

My Computer -> HDD Drives are never visible
Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Devices and Printers -> ULTRA DISK DRIVE is shown when the disk gets connected for few seconds and then again disappears.
Disk Management -> Disk Never Shows (Maybe the time is not enough to scan the new HDD since it gets disconnected in 4-5 seconds again)
Device Manager -> MASS STORAGE DEVICE is shown when the disk gets connected for few seconds and then again disappears.

Can hear the HDD running when i listen closely. So i assume HDD is not dead.
Facing same problem on 2 laptops hints this is not software or OS problem.

Not sure what the problem can be..? is this a problem with my NEXXTECH enclosure or could it be anything related to HDD..?
Is there any software which can give me more information as the HDD is at least connecting for few seconds?

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks in Advance.

Welcome to the TH Community, @websking!

I'm afraid that @PhysX_HW is right as the issue could be coming from the enclosure itself. I'd advise you to try swapping the USB cable that is connecting the enclosure to the laptops and see how the drive would get recognize on both of them. A different enclosure or a docking station (with an AC adapter as well) might also help you gain access to the HDD. Just like it was already mentioned checking how the HDD would get recognized while plugged internally via SATA will help you rule it out as the source of your issues.

Keep us posted with the troubleshooting & Good luck! :)
