I wanted to either upgrade my current computer or just build a new one altogether. I'm not sure which would be better and wanted to know what you guys thought. I'm also not sure about my budget yet, just wanted to know if what I have is worth upgrading or not. I would like to use it for 1080p gaming.

Here's what I have:
Case: HP Z400 Workstation
PSU: 475W but I'm not sure of the brand
Operating System
Windows 7 Professional 64-bit SP1
CPU
Intel Xeon W3530 @ 2.80GHz
RAM
6.00GB Triple-Channel DDR3 @ 533MHz (7-7-7-20)
Motherboard
Hewlett-Packard 0B4Ch (CPU0 PROCESSOR)
GPU (know I have to replace :p )
1024MB NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT (PNY)
Storage
465GB ATA ST500DM002-1BD14 SCSI Disk Device (SATA)

I have the peripherals taken care of at the moment.

Again just wanted to know if this is worth upgrading and overall looking for some ideas.
Thanks in advance :)

I'd definitely say start from scratch. I want to say you could salvage your HD but considering that it's SCSI and we've since moved onto SATA-6 and M2 which are a million times faster it would definitely be a good idea to purchase all new components.
