Hey Guys I bought a custom computer through HP and got good specs to run games without lag. Though after getting the PC I am still having difficulty running H1Z1 and Dead by Daylight without lag at even some of the lowest settings. I was wondering how I could fix this.

My Computer Specs Are:

Processor - Intel Core i7 - 6700 CPU @3.40 ghz
Installed Memory - 16 GB
System Type - 64 bit operating system (windows 10)
2 hard Drives -- 256 gb Solid State Drive and 1 terabyte reg basic hard drive
Nvidia 960 Graphics Card

Please Help Me!

Solution
I did see someone a few hours ago post a similar problem.
I think they had to go back to older drivers to fix it.
Try an older driver like 368.81.

Other thing is Dead By Daylight isn't the best optimised game. Even GTX 1060 and RX 480 seem locked at 40FPS.

You could always try a game people consider well optimised like Rocket League to see if its working ok.

Turning AA down slightly, keeping textures at second highest and keeping shadows at second highest can also help with GTX 960. It sometimes gets let down by its small memory bandwidth.

Edit: Sorry that you are dealing with this stress. You have put a lot of work in and it is a lot. If it gets overwhelming or you give up hope just make sure you get HP to deal with it and...

what would you say is the right graphics card?

All I play is h1z1, dead by daylight, and minecraft.

Also there are a bunch of examples online of people running h1z1 fine with this graphics card...

here is an example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fnooEzJnZLk

why wont mine work as well?

Do the following steps:

Uninstall your current gpu drivers in contorl panel.

Then download the latest version of ddu. http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html

Open ddu and reboot into safe mode.

Select the third option clean and shutdown.

After it shuts down take your gpu out of its pci slot and reseat it.

Make sure the wires and the gpu are securely set.

Turn your computer back on, download the latest nvidia drivers.

Install them.

You should be good to go now.

Yep so I did that, 3 times actually. Nothing has changed. My games run smoothly the first 5-10 minutes i restart my computer and then the fps drops like crazy. I checked my temp and they seem to be fine all under 35 Celcius. I dont know what else could be wrong.

You're checking the temps on both your GPU and CPU and they're both under 35 C? That seems far too low for either component under load.

Sounds like the GTX 960 is switching off after 5-10 minutes of play if temperatures are that good.

Did you set a temperature target of 35 degrees or something like that?

What is your Psu wattage? Is it possible that the graphics card is not getting enough power and is actually shutting down?
