Hi, this is the first time I'm posting here but I've found help by referring to these forums from time to time :)

So to the issue at hand...
My PC ran fine till the 9th of November 2016, no issues at all, no weird sounds etc.
However, the next day 2 hours after I started my PC I decided to play Witcher 2. It booted up fine and once I loaded up a savegame my PC suddenly without any warning or without making a sound it directly shut down.
This had never happened before so I decided to Google the issue and from what I read I thought that I may have an issue with my PSU.
So I opened up my case and reseated all the connections but the PC refused to start. Every time I tried, the light on my MSI GTX 970 Logo, the Dragon part, would blink once and nothing would happen. After trying a few times I decided to remove my GPU and restart my PC.
This time my PC booted up just fine without any issues so I tried reconnecting the GPU but the PC would refuse to boot up with my GPU connected.

So my question is, is my GPU faulty and should I RMA it? or Is my PSU faulty due to which it can't supply enough power to run my PC with the GPU plugged in.

I find it a little hard to believe that my GPU will be faulty because I've been using it only for 5 months and my average daily gaming time never exceeds 1.5 hours.

I appreciate the help I will receive from you people out there and thank you in advance :)

My specs:
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate.
Processor: Intel i5 4460 3.2 GHz.
RAM: Gskill RipjawsX 8 GB (4x2).
Mobo: Gigabyte Z-97 D3H.
GPU: MSI GTX 970 4 GB GDDR5. (5 months old)
PSU: Corsair VS 550 Watt. (3 Years old)

"Corsair VS 550 Watt. (3 Years old)"

I'm willing to bet my rig that there's your problem.

The VS series from Corsair are designed ONLY for light office/home use. They are NOT designed for heavy power-using tasks like gaming at all.

From Corsair's website: "VS Series is the entry-level line of 240 Volt power supplies. A great choice if you’re building a home or office system with lower power demands."

Replace that unit with a proper high quality unit as soon as possible.

I'd recommend the EVGA Supernova GS 550 for your system.
