Hello,

I have a problem with my External HDD, windows does not recognise it. It worked fine a couple days ago. I have been using it for 8 months and never had this problem before. The light turns on, but it doesn't make a plug-in sound neither shows up on my computer, but it is on Devices and Printers. I cannot format it using cmd, so I'm kinda stuck. I really would appreciate your help

Thanks in Advance

Hi there Mirvin,

That is unpleasant. :(

What is the model of the drive? Was it in a third party enclosure?

It looks like that only the enclosure is recognized, but not the HDD inside.
My suggestion would be to attach it to a desktop machine internally with SATA and power cables.
If the issue persists, then I believe you will need to contact a data recovery company if the data stored on it is really important.

You can see if you will manage to access it with data recovery tools. Yet, most probably, you will not be able to: https://www.lifewire.com/free-data-recovery-software-tools-2622893

Let me know how this goes,
