Which VGA should I pick?

Hi!

Since the question is kind of complicated, I should start with my current specs:

Mobo: ASRock 970 Pro3 2.0
CPU: AMD FX-8350
PSU: Chieftec 500WA8
I also have a HDD, a DVD-RW, and a Cooler Master Hyper 212X, which consume wattage (also some RAM ofc), but these are almost irrelevant I suppose.

I'd like to buy a new VGA next week. Until this point I was certain that I'd like to buy a Sapphire RX 480 Nitro+ 4GB, however, that would require buying a new PSU almost inevitably, which is a little bit costly, and also importantly would require much more tinkering, and for a 20-year-old, I already feel old for the new rigs, and I don't want to mess up anything (I've just got back my mobo after 1,5 months because I tried to unpark my CPU).
So now I have discovered the almighty GTX 1060 6GB, which is a little bit more expensive than the RX 480, but still slightly cheaper than an RX 480+PSU. So my two questions are:
1. Can I avoid buying a new PSU by picking the GTX 1060? I'm not planning on changing anything else in the near future.
2. If so, which one should I choose? I know you can't really calculate with my personal problems of being scared of my rig, but do you think that the RX 480 can become the better alternative in the future? I read that the Vulkan gives it a little advantage and also looks a bit smoother on DX 12, but can it make such a big difference in the next 2-3 years?

Thank you for your answers in advance,

I am willing to spend more for the GTX 1060 6 GB, that's fine, or do you think that I should stick to the 3 GB model? And also the more important question is whether my current PSU is enough.

That's too expensive, the question is whether I can keep my Chieftec.
Thank you anyways
