I have a 2TB My Passport Ultra Hard Drive and it's been acting up. I use it to store all my photos and videos and I've had it for about 2 months now. It's had some weird behaviours before sure as not working in USB 3 Ports on multiple computers, which is a whole other issue, but now the drive is starting to either delete or hide files - I'm unsure. But now mutliple files from different locations in the drive aren't showing up and years and years of work is completely gone. Is this a malfunctioning drive or is it something in windows (The files don't show up when drive is in both Mac or PC) Please help.

Solution
Check Your HDD using "HD Tune" select your drive and run full scan(msut be full as quick scan never picks bad sectors)
But even without scanning I can diagnose bad sectors.

Take HDD to guarantee.
Avoid putting any more files on it.

This could be cause by several factors such as bit rott, file corruption from the drive loosing connection or power for example, but the main thing is that important files like your photo's should never be stored on just one device. I feel your first step should be making a backup copy or two of these files so yo don't lose any more. Then you can see about resolving whats wrong with the drive.

That sounds like a failing drive or bad sectors. The bad sectors would account for the data loss. (not deleted pictures just where it was on the drive is not working so just gone)
You need to backup all the data left on the drive now.
Never have stuff you can't replace on one drive always have it backed up to at least one other drive.
I do work in CAD, After Effects, and Blender and have everything stored on the drives in my PC and also have a internal and external backup for the work so all my work is actually on 3 different drives. If my work drive fails in the PC then I can replace the drive and clone the internal backup drive and be right back where I was, if by chance something fries everything in my PC then my work is still on a external drive.
EDIT just to put this out their you are following the proper steps when you disconnect the drive right? if not then this can also cause data loss.
