Hello guys. I am having a problem with my Gigabyte Gtx 1080 G1 edition. Every time i boot my computer and start playing regardless of what game it is the memory clock stays at 5006 mhz and core clock at 1940mhz smthn like that and fps stays normal like 80above in mafia III and after like half n hour the memory clock drops to like 4500ish mhz and fps drops to shit with it around 40 fps in mafia 3. When i restart my PC it returns to normal and this happens again. Is there any way to find out whats happening and fix it?
Memory clock being normal http://
Memory clock dropped http://
And are those CPU usage normal for both those tittles?
Pls help.

Thanks in advance :D

PC specs :

CPU - i7 3770k

RAM - corssair vengance 16gigs 1333mhz

Motherboard - Asus ROG maximus v gene

PSU - CoolerMaster G650M.

Things tried :
-Uninstalled driver using DDU and reinstaller Drivers

-Set power mode to maximum performance in Nvidia control pannel.

-Temps are pretty normal runnin around 65-70(at max) so i dont think its a thermal throttle issue.
PS: looks like a lotta ppl have this issue but theres no fix in google.

To make sure it isn't thermal throttling have you set your fans to manual and set them to something like 60% constant or applied a much more aggressive fan curve?

does the 16x and 8x thing on the pcie slot make a difference because one says 16x and other is 8x

I'm not talking about the PCI slots physically. Slow down man.

Go into the Windows power plan settings (use start menu searchbar) and set the power plan to high performance

Regardless, yes you should using the 16x slot.

hahah. Hopefully that helps things.

Too me it sound sound a bit like thermal throttling like aquiel suggested. When you turn off computer, temps fall back to normal and your clocks are restored..after gaming for awhile temps get too hot and clocks drop.

Yeah if lowering the memory clock fixed the problem, then its likely the memory on the card is defective and unable to run the at the standard clock speed.

Have had a similar issue where downclocking may have fixed the issue because I have a FTW version. Nvidia can downclock everything back to factory defaults. http://www.evga.com/support/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=59594

Ok i did fix this issue, but not sure what went wrong but when i reinstalled OS everything started to work fine.
First i had lotta problems like Browser crashing everytime i open it.
So thought about reinstalling OS and when i did everything came back to the way it was when i bought the card.
Couldnt figure out what the problem was but i am glad as long as its solved.

:bounce: Congrats!!! That did reset your power options. Not sure either but happy that it's fixed. So you reset WIndows and downloaded and installed the latest(375.70) driver.
