Hi so trying to upgrade from my MSI 960 4gb to the EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 Founders Edition
witch I really like. The problem is that I got a pre-built computer from www.cyberpowerpc.com because I was moving at the same time I wanted a new gaming desktop. I have 2 6pin connectors and I need a 8 pin. Is there anything that could use both my 6pins to make a 8pin?

Solution
Yes. If you have dual 12V rails, you'd need the combined power from both. Because of the PSU design, even a single 6pin (converted to 8pin) will be able to provide the appropriate power.

Can you post your full spec? Ideally, can you list the make/model of your PSU? CyberPower use a variety of components, and usually 'cheap out' a little on the PSU (and motherboard).

While adapters exist to provide you an 8pin connector, I'd recommend confirming that your PSU is of decent quality to begin with. A pretty solid general rule is, if you need an adapter, you shouldn't be running that component from the PSU you have.

It's not a hard & fast rule, but it's worth considering.

600W standard 80+ doesn't narrow it down unfortunately. Can you pop the side panel off your case & not the make/model of the PSU?

Decent setup there. Overkill on the X99 & CPU for gaming, and underwhelming on the GPU (but you're addressing that)

It says it's a ATNG

Hmmm, I've never seen too much from ATNG - they're an OEM, and not many PSUs go out under their own branding AFAIK.

They make decent enough PSUs as far as I can tell. Not the best, but far from bottom of the barrel junk.

Single rail design, so should be able to provide more than adequate power for a 1070. Requirements of 120W for a 960 4GB currently, to 150W for the FE 1070... PSU should be capable.

I believe the FE's were shipping with 2x6pin to single 8pin connectors at one point, which would be totally fine to use in your case. I'm not sure if they're still shipping with them though.

Hmmm, ok. Single 12V rail, so a single 6pin to 8pin adapter is all you need.

Looks like the model of PSU lacks a little in quality, but should still be sufficient to run a FE 1070. BEfore you buy, reach out to the retailer & confirm whether a 6pin (or 2x6pin) to 8pin connector is still shipped with the card - save ordering another one.

will the 6 to 8 pin still have enough power to run it???
