So I've had this intermittent problem with my computer for a few weeks now and I can't seem to pin down the issue causing it.

PC powers on but no beeps from motherboard, fails to boot, monitor is blinking, cpu, case fans and graphics card fan are spinning. optical drives open and close. Have removed CMOS battery. removed all ram apart from slot 1, removed and put back graphics card, unplugged power cord and pressed power button to discharge any power. Still not working.

Now as I went to try again a few minutes ago it worked and booted normally again. It's been doing this for several weeks, sometimes I can get it to stay on for hours, others it will just turn itself off a few minutes after booting, like I pulled the plug almost. Any help would be very appreciated.

Specs below. This rig was built about 8 years ago and has been incrementally upgraded over the years. No new hardware has been added in the past 3 or so years.

ASUS M4A785TD-V Evo mobo

AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition 3.2Ghz processor

ATI XFX Radeon HD 7970 GPU

Cooler Master Silent Pro v3 600W PSU

4GB(x2) sticks of Corsair 1333mhz RAM

4GB(x2) sticks of Kingston 1333mhz RAM

Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB HDD

Intel 128GB SSD

Windows 7 64bit, most recent updates installed.

Pulling parts individually to test failures isn't really an option because the system will sometimes boot no issue and work for several days. Sometimes it won't post at all for a few days, pulling parts seems to have no effect on if it will post or not so I'm not sure what to do.

Solution
I would place blame on either motherboard, or the PSU. I would probably place more blame, on PSU. Coolermaster doesn't have very many quality models lines, and I don't believe that is one of the good ones.
