Just recently had an issue that required me to back up all of my sensitive and important information on an external drive as the computer was dying. But after getting the computer fix I tried to grab the data from the external hard drive back onto the computer and I got a cyclic redundancy heck error message and now the drive is inaccessible. Windows detects it gets plugged in, but it "infinitely loads" the drive and never even shows its size and can't be opened.
chkdsk doesn't detect any of my hard drives, external, internal, working, or not so that won't work for me.

I NEED to get that data back as it has ALL of my business related informations. Is there any hope? and how can I get this done without bankrupting me? I'd greatly appreciate some help with this otherwise I'll lose access to a great many things including my own business affiliations.

Welcome to Tom's Hardware, @Justin_136!

I'd strongly recommend you check how your external HDD would get recognized if you swap the USB cable and the USB port where it's connected to the computer. Another thing that could help you access the files is if you plug it to another computer and see if it will pop up properly there. I'd also advise you to go to Disk Management in Windows and see how the HDD is listed there. Posting some screenshots would be really helpful.
Make sure you backup all your data from the external drive somewhere else as soon as you gain access to it!

It's also recommended to run the HDD's brand-specific diagnostic utility and determine what is the health and SMART status of the drive. If...

It's also recommended to run the HDD's brand-specific diagnostic utility and determine what is the health and SMART status of the drive. If the HDD fails any of the tests from these tools, I'd advise you to consider contacting a professional data recovery company for assistance!

Keep me posted with the troubleshooting!
