My PC overheated last week, I left it to cool down for a day and when i go to press the power button nothing happens. No lights or fans. Is there any way to to diagnose which of my components is causing issues?
There are multiple possible causes for this. But before we jump into all of that, please do a CMOS reset.
How to clear CMOS, universal technique:
1) Turn the machine off and unplug it.
2) Press and hold the power button for three seconds to drain any remaining power.
3) Remove the CMOS battery from the motherboard.
4) Get a snack.
5) After five minutes have passed, put the CMOS battery back into the board.
6) Done.
Please disconnect the power supply from the machine. Make sure there are no longer any connections being made between the power supply and the other components.
Get yourself a paperclip and follow these instructions on how to see if your PSU will manually start up or not:
1) Unplug the power supply.
2) Hold the motherboard power connector (20 or 24-pin) so that the pins are facing you and the clip is to the right.
3) Insert the paperclip into the second and fourth pins down on the right hand side.
4) Holding the connector by the plastic and making sure not to touch the paperclip, plug the power supply back in.
5) Observe whether or not the fan on the power supply spins.
6) Reply with results.
Going to try this now and looked up an image for reference. I've seen images of paper clips in 3rd / 4th and 4th / 5th. Is there any difference? Want to double check.

There's a big difference. Only the second and fourth will start the unit, the others will simply short it out.
Honestly, without knowing the specs of the machine I'm a little lost here. I'll refer your question to some other knowledgeable users, please wait patiently for their response.
PROBABLY your board failed , not 100% , but the G43 due to it's poor power and thermal design should not have a 125w CPU on it.
Agreed. Hopefully you didn't lose your CPU. Some boards lack fail safes and you'll get 12V straight to the CPU in the case of a chain reaction of MOSFET failures. This is rare however and I can say that your CPU probably still works, but cannot guarantee it.
