So basically I made a post about this a few months ago but never actually upgraded my GPU since I just didn't have any cash to spend. Now that the holiday season is approaching, I'm looking to upgrade this GPU since I feel as if it's lagging a bit behind now. Maxing out games like Dark souls 3, and Overwatch will dip below 60 fps. what would be the best recommended GPU upgrade for a GTX 960 2gig?
I technically don't have a preference between Nvidia or AMD, but when it comes to software, I definitely prefer using shadowplay.
I'm also not exactly interested in enthusiat grade GPUs like the 1070 and upward. I'm mainly a 1080p gamer who doesn't really have any interest to upgrade to a 1440p or 4k display.

Current specs
Win 8.1
GTX 960 2gig
i5 4460
8 gigs ddr3
1TB HD
120 gig SSD
550w PSU

Solution
Plainly the bang for buck option for you is a gtx 1060 3gb mate, although I would try & lump the extra money for the 6gb if at all possible.

Bro your first top lriorty must be ur cpu. U cant.play dark souls 3 on ultra setting on fhd resolution with an i5 cpu. U must upgrade ur cpu first to a i7 cpu then u can go for 1060 or better vga and got ur.lovely.fps in high tough games like dark souls 3. I dont mean ur cpu bottleneck but.it doesnt give the performance which needed.to balance the performance of ram and gpu so the fram will not reach even 50fps. On ultra setting
But.i7 is.better.on rendering and.got.more.l3 cache and can be overclocked.better
I.hope.u underestand it.well
Sorry.for bad english
Best regards.

Benchmark showing Dark Souls 3 running at max settings at 1440p and 60 fps with an i5:

We had this same discussion yesterday in a different thread. Rather than spouting off about needing an i7 for 1080p/60 fps gaming, try actually looking at some benchmarks.

Yeah I'm not hearing that lol. I know for a fact an i5 is fine for DS3. My friend has a 4460 with a better GPU and can run DS3 60, max, 1080p with zero issues.

which brand of the GTX 1060 would you recommend? I'm hearing a lot of odd things about EVGA lately, which makes me sad, since I usually go for their brand of cards over others.
