I currently have a gaming PC with an MSI 970 gaming motherboard, AMD FX8320, EVGA GTX 650 ti, and 4gb of RAM. I found a custom gaming computer at a thrift store that was missing only RAM and a GPU. So, I put my RAM and GPU in it to test it, and it wasn't working so I put the RAM and GPU back in my computer. Now my computer won't work. It turns on, but it just has a black screen and my keyboard and mouse aren't turning on now. Is it possible that the RAM or GPU got damaged? I made sure that both motherboards took DDR3 RAM and only used my DDR3 stick in.

Solution

That sounds like something is not seated correctly or a plug is unplugged.

How would I be able to tell what isn't seated correctly or what's unplugged? I didn't unplug anything from my main PC, I just took the RAM and the GPU out and put them into the other PC and then I put them back in my main PC afterwards.

Any time you open your case you could accidentally unplug or unseat something. It happens, even to technicians that have done it thousands of times.
