Just curious why you want a "gaming" laptop? Do you really need your gaming system to be portable?

Well a 4 year old 670 will still play most games at medium settings 1080p 60fps. If I had to guess the 1070 might last even longer especially at 1080p, but whos to say I cant see the future so I will base my guess on the past.

That sucks man. I'm going to warn you the performance per dollar is absolutely horrible on a laptop. You will not get your moneys worth.
I've had friends who have bought them only to sell them a year later and lose money because they realized it wasn't what they wanted.
Be absolute sure this is what you want and you don't have another option.

How long any graphics card will stay relevant depends on context, like the resolution, desired framerates and detail levels, game engine requirements, the CPU in the laptop, etc.
Looking at how old a GTX770 is, seeing it continue to handle the vast majority of games played today pretty well, and knowing the rate at which GPU development is slowing, you can kinda extrapolate how long your GTX1070 will remain relevant. That is, unless magically AMD steps up their game and blows the market away.

hi. if its a desctop 1070 i can tell you that now i have 1 1070 and i run 4 monitors and play gta 5 on medium - ultra on around 50 - 60 fps. so the 1070 is a beast and i tink that its goena be a beast card for years. ill say 4 - 5 years maby ?. i wil also recomend buying a desctop insted of a laptop cus a desctop can be upgraded. dont know if you are a student that neads a laptop or if your travel alot but i wold recomend buying a desctop and a cheep laptop if you do travel or if you are a student cus if you tink about it, how mutch do you play when you are traveling or is at scool.
