Wifi problem - Can't see 5ghz internet

I got this problem. I live on a school, where we have 2.4 ghz and 5 ghz networks. I want to connect to the 5ghz since everyone is using the 2.4. But I can't. I was wondering if it was because my network adapter says 5.2 ghz, and it can't find the network because its only 5ghz.
If specs is needed, I can give you that

EDIT: Forgot to say that I can't see the 5ghz connection, but the repeater is showing that the 5ghz internet is on and running.

So i found out what was wrong. It was prioritising the 2.4 over the 5ghz, so I went to device manager -> Networkadapter -> Doubleclicked the adapter -> went to preffered band, and chose 5ghz, and it automaticly switched.
