High gaming temps

I have the i7 4790K with stock cooler but not overclocking. I play battlefield 1 which is pretty CPU heavy. I'm hitting temps of 75 degrees after 15 mins of playing.

1. How long will my CPU last playing on this temperature?
2. Is that a safe temperature for a CPU heavy game? (as when i play skyrim on high which is not as cpu heavu, i feel my hand at the back of the exhaust fan and its pretty cool)
3. If i do install a aftermarket cpu cooler, is there any chance i could bend the cpu pins when removing the old one or installing the new one?

(I'm hoping it last me at least 3-5 years and i really don't want to be mucking around with CPU as i don't know what i'm doing)

Thanks :)

changing the Cpu cooler to a better quality one, and of a larger size in surface area to soak up more heat and draw it away from the cpu it`s self.

Will not effect your system, just leave the I7 cpu sat in it`s cpu socket with the retention arm still set to the locked position Liam via the arm where it is next to the cpu socket, the arm should be flat down next to the cpu socket for it`s locked position.

Clean off any or all of the old thermal paste of the top of the Intel integrated IHS cooling transfer cap used to protect the Physical I7 cpu.

One clean.
Read the instruction manual that comes with the cooler, making sure you check what cpu socket version the board has, the manual will have a list of what cpu sockets the cooler can...
An I7 Intel cpu can reach around 86c before it starts to thermal throttle in clock speed on the cpu cores Liam.

But to be honest The only real bit of advice is to buy a after market cpu cooler to fit on your I7 cpu Liam.
One that has a larger surface area, with extra heat pipes and more aluminium cooling fins on the cpu cooler plus a larger fan of about 120mm in size.

Without breaking the bank, as you can pay up to £80 or $80 for a really good cpu cooler to keep the I7 cpu much cooler when running say at around 55c to 60c.
You can buy a good cooler for around £30 or $30. for the I7 to keep it much cooler when running it.

Most people go for a Evo 212 cpu cooler from cooler master Liam.

Priced at around £30 or $30. for the price it does a decent job of cooling the cpu as said and keeping the temps of it much cooler when putting the I7 under a heavy work load or playing a game.

Have a look at the Evo 212 cpu cooler by clicking on the link bellow Liam.

And the link bellow is to a wide range of quality cpu coolers that will keep the I7 cpu around 55c to 60c when under load Liam if you wish to take alook at the choices you have, and price ranges.

When i take the stock cooler off wont it rag the CPU a little and bend a pin or am i just thinking too much? Oh and when i end up taking the mobo out to install the new CPU cooler will anything happen to the operation system or any errors that i need to look out for (because i've unplugged ssd cable, power cable, gpu) do i need to be aware of anything?

thanks shaun

Read the instruction manual that comes with the cooler, making sure you check what cpu socket version the board has, the manual will have a list of what cpu sockets the cooler can be fitted to.
And if a cpu support back plate needs to be fitted to the back side of the motherboard where aligned with the cpu socket on the motherboard.

It will also list what standoffs need to be used and there length for the model number of cpu socket you have on your motherboard for the i7 cpu you have.

And what set of screws must be used to tension the cpu cooler to the cpu socket and the i7 cpu for a snugg fit and good effective cooling of the I7 cpu Liam.

As long as you double check you have used the right kit parts to fit the cpu cooler on the i7 cpu you will be fine.
There should be no reason as to why you need to remove the cpu in anyway from it locked position of the cpu socket of your motherboard Liam, an little or no chance of damaging the I7 cpu you have fitted in any way.
