I have a system that worked fine for almost a year.
It started having a problem powering up. I would completely shut down the system, come back the next day and would get no response to hitting the power button on the case or on the m/b.
The light for the power button would light up on the m/b, but not the reset button or the other lighted buttons on the m/b- and I'd get no response when trying to power up.
I went through all the manufacturer's troubleshooting- everything short of breadboarding the m/b and I RMA'd the board.
The replacement worked fine for about a month. This board is now displaying the same behavior.
I was thinking it was probably a short of some sort and figured it was time to breadboard the system to work out if it is indeed shorting out on the case or from some component.
The other weird thing that its doing is that if I unplug the system from the wall after it has failed and walk away for an hour or so and come back, it will start up normally. It never stops working on its own, it only fails after I turn off the system.
Before I start pulling the whole thing apart again I figured I'd ask if anyone has run into something similar and can point me to a possible solution...
