So my latest scheme is to run an hdmi splitter off my xbox one in the living room to the bedroom down the hallway. This involves a 35 ft hdmi that drops down into the basement, ran over and up inside the wall the bedroom tv is mounted on. The problem is the controller loses connection in the bedroom. I've seen usb to ethernet adapters and was wondering they'd work. By the time I'd run a line to my side of the bed and behind the nightstand it would total about 40 ft though I do have a 4ft usb to micro usb cable I use to charge my phone. Also, would one of the wireless controller usb sticks for pc work? That way I could just leave that plugged behind the night stand and forget the 4 ft cord all together. Your thoughts?

Hello.

At that length of wiring, you're going to need a HDMI extender as well, especially if you want to game at 1080p. 40ft approaches the technical limitations of HDMI.

Your best bet will be a HDMI over Cat5 extender, and a USB over Cat5 extender as well. You will need to pass two Cat5 (ethernet) wires to your bedroom.
This will cost you in excess of 100$...
