Hi there,

I have a system with one Xeon E5-2680 V4 (broadwell) with 32 gb DDR4 ram. Recently, I bought another Xeon E5-2680 V4 and RAM to extend. I have checked all the configurations for each CPU (such as Freq), they are the same. Each processor and RAM works perfectly with first socket. Single processor with two RAM also work OK.

RAM positions for two socket are A1 and E1 according to the manual. With second processor on second socket, it does not boot, even beep or no error code. But the motherboard is ON. The PSU is Corsair AX 750 watt with two 12V pins, I don't think this may not be an issue.

There is no visible bent pins or anything in the socket. Second socket cannot be tested alone. According to specs it supports V4 family of processors. Also, I have updated bios to latest version 3209. https://www.asus.com/us/Commercial-Servers-Workstations/Z10PED16/specifications/

Bios https://www.asus.com/us/support/CPU/5/35/0/2/0JpAcKIbX0fJ9hKh/C20140909100340/

The similar problem with no solution http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/317629-30-asus-z9pe-socket-work

Second solution is chip update (not bios) that can only be done at ASUS service center: http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-3038176/z10ped8-board-power-2683-es2-cpus-installed.html

Manual (though it is for WS, they are almost same): http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/Socket2011-R3/Z10PE-D16_WS/Manual/e9687_z10pe-d16_ws_ug_for_web_only.pdf

I am waiting for ASUS's response.

Anyone who has any experience with this motherboard (asus z10pe-d16) for dual socket or any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Both cpu fans do not rotate too.

I have tested each CPU with a single 8 pin EPS connector, it booted in both cases. I will RMA it soon after some of jobs done. Thanks for helping me out :)

Just to make sure, are you plugging the second CPU EPS connector in while using both CPUs? You weren't very clear about this. If so, then I agree that you should RMA the board as there's other possible reasons for this.

Yes, I connected both EPS connectors while testing with both CPUs.

I have also contacted with Asus service center via chat. With all the issues mentioned, they have also issued an RMA.

Thanks guys.

I have received Motherboard after RMA and repair. Repair is itself confusing- no more details other than "Repair in progress" for few days and then shipped. I may buy Supermicro X10-DAi-O (https://www.supermicro.com/products/motherboard/Xeon/C600/X10DAi.cfm) to test if the processors work together or not.

Two processors worked with Supermicro X10Dai. I have to RMA Asus z10pe-d16 again. In the forums, I have found that ASUS Z10 has persistent problems with two V4 cpus.

i need serious help regarding Supermicro X10DAI-O Motherboard. First, does this motherboard supports Samsung 1TB 960 EVO NVMe M.2 SSD for main boot and loading software like Adobe After Effects and Adobe Premiere Pro CC? secondly, i would using Corsair H115i CPu cooler but i dont know how to cool the other CPU as i would be using DUAL XEON CPUs on this motherboard. Do i need to install another corsair h115i cpu coolant for that other processor? my case is Corsair graphite 780T. please help

Hi everebody,

I'm experenting the same kind of experience with this Asus Z10PE-D16 WS motherboard.
I work with this installation since 5 years, working with two XEON E-2640 V3 (8 x 8 GO Ram) / RTX 3060.
I have try to replace dual xeon by two XEON E-2680 V4.

After many try, changing bios version (until last one 4101), i can get each xeon working indivudually on CPU 01, but never
get the solution to boot from dual Xeon E-2680 V4 ...
With two Xeon E-2680 V4, the motherboard led are green, but nothing happen... no boot!
When powering on with both processors (with two Xeon E-2680 V4),
the motherboard lights up (all leds are green)
but nothing happens by pressing the ignition button.
It doesn't boot!! Not a ventilator lights up.

When i go back with dual Xeon E-2640 V3 all is working again.
I don't know anymore what can i do to find a better solution...
I asked to Asus service, and i'm allready waiting ...

Now, is it better to work with dual xeon 2640V3 or with one 2680 V4 ? ... ;)
