Our new graphics card isn't working with our other computer components - what's the problem?

We recently purchased a new graphics card (details below), but when we connected it to the computer it freezes. It gets to the screen with BIOS, Boot, etc, but you can't pres anything - it's frozen.

We've uninstalled the old drivers. We've also cleared the BIOS. We breadboarded the rig, tested the motherboard, PSU etc individually and everything works OK with our old graphics card/without the graphics card. But with the new graphics card it just freezes as mentioned. We've checked to make sure everything is compatible with the new card. The PSU is new as well, but it works fine with everything else and should be compatible with the new graphics card.

Here are the specifications:

Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-H61M-S2PV
PSU - EVGA Supernova G2 650W
New graphics card - MSI GeForce GTX 1070

We thought that perhaps we'd been sold a faulty graphics card, but we exchanged it for a new one at the store and the new one has the exact same problem. We're really not sure what to do now, and could do with tips and/or advice of what else to try!
