So in a case like the CoolerMaster MasterCase 5, which has a basement for the PSU, how should i mount my PSU (Seasonic Prime 750w) which has a hybrid fan mode = so fan only turns on after certain load - so in my case likely never. Seasonic recommends the PSU to be mounted facing up so the heat can naturally rise, but since i don't have space ontop of my PSU in the basement what do is the best to do ? Mount it facing down, even though fan is not spinning? Help!

I have my Corsiar Hx750i with fanless operation mode in a basement with my Cooler Master CM 690 case. No issues with the fan facing down. I double check the temps with my hand every so often. It runs cool.

I think you will be just fine. Hopefully someone with that model can give you a personal opinion!

I might just worry too much about it, but not being able to follow the manufacturer's recommended guide made me unease.

I'll see if i can get another reply of an owner of that case, thanks four your input!

After carefully inspecting your case on Google Images, my opinion is that you should mount it with the fan facing up. Sure, it doesnt have a lot of room for the fan to blow, but PSU fans don't blow much anyway, and thats how CoolerMaster designed the case so it should be fine. If you put it facing down, it still wont have much room (especially if on carpet). Hope I helped!

I might have 2-3 left between psu on the basement top, also i won't place it on carpet.

What do you mean with thats how CM designed the case? In my opinion i would've said the case is designed for PSU's to be faced down because thats the only side where you can get air for it. Thanks for your input.

Because PSUs are typically faced with the fan up, I would assume that CoolerMaster made the case knowing that people would put the PSU face up. It shouldn't cause any issues either direction, but how much space do you have between bottom of case and floor?

I think the majority of new cases coming out are designed for the face down actually. As an example, my cooler master case has a filter on the bottom for the PSU. His case has the exact same filter

The reason you don't want to face it up is because the hot tempature's from your GPU an the rest of the system will leak into the PSU, heating up it's components and potentially causing issues like the fan running 24/7 when it does not need to be.

Putting your fan down separates the PSU entirely from the rest of the system and allows it draw in fresh air consistently.

The cases in which this design is implemented usually stand higher off the ground. My case has 1 inch feet heavy rubber feet on it. I believe the mastercase5 has the same feet.
