Ok guys i have a GA-F2A88XM-DS2 motherboard and my cpu died today and have ordered a a10-7890k with the wraith cooler ...and was worried that my motherboard bios would not support the new CPU ..as i havent updated the bios since purchase of motherboard....any and all help is appreciated


My old cpu was a. x4 740

And i know my motherboard is. REV 3.1 .... if that helps?

To be honest, there's a big chance it will not work. If you never upgraded your BIOS, then you're probably not at the needed F8d version for Godavari... You're probably still at F1.

You can always buy a cheap 20$ Trinity APU/CPU, update your BIOS to F8D, then install your new processor though? You can find old Trinity's pretty much everywhere for less than 30$.

So that will work with my current motherboard and allow me to update my bios ? ...

Yes, it will work with your motherboard immediately. It's compatible with every revision and bios version. Once it's working, you will then have to update your BIOS to the latest version, and your new a10-7890k APU will work correctly.

I have ordered a x2 340 from amazon for 28 pound and should be coming tomorrow ..so can update my bios in time for when my a10 comes thursday
