Hello everyone!

I currently have an AMD A4-5300 APU and am planning to upgrade to a better processor. I need help in choosing a processor to best suit my needs.

I use this PC to do assignments and projects but i also play CS GO. My problem is that I only achieve about 25-40 fps. I tried overclocking my pc but there's not much of a difference. I know this cpu won't be able to run way past that so I am currently planning to upgrade my processor.

I have searched that CS:GO is a CPU heavy game so I think there is no problem with the RAM and the other components of my pc.

My budget is 100$ or lower :)

Here are my specs:
CPU: A4-5300 APU with Radeon HD 7480D Integrated Graphics 3.4 GHz
RAM: 4GB
MOBO: ECS A55F2-M3
OS: Windows 8

Any help would be greatly appreciated! :)

If you can get a 750ti or better a RX 460 in there your csgo experience will increase exponentially - at least double the fps you're getting now at medium to high settings.

A new quad core CPU will increase performance a bit but seeing as csgo only really uses 2 threads it won't be a vast difference at all.

CPU is on the low end. You'd honestly gain more performance by upgrading to a GTX 1050 if you're just looking to play cs go.

In the future I'd highly suggest upgrading to a better CPU which will require a new motherboard as there is nothing worth while to upgrade to from AMD.

RAM: Kingston Technology 4GB 1333 MHz 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM Memory Module (KVR13N9S8/4)
No video card as far as I know
Sorry if I don't know my psu.

So i'll just leave my CPU and buy a graphics card? Will it not bottleneck?

You're a little stuck with what you have mate because both the CPU & ram could do with upgrading.

Running an apu on just 4gb of 1333mhz ram is not going to give you great graphics performance , the integrated graphics relies on fast ram for better performance.

Are you fairly happy with general pc performance & just want more fps in csgo or do you want the whole system to benefit .

What country are you actually in ??

I did check exact system requirements for CS:GO and i do not see that your procesor is weak for it. So i would suggest to take new video card instead of upgrading this APU.
Yes, it is old APU but for things you need it is more than capable.
4 gb of ram is enough too

If you take lets say GTX 750 you can find it for low price. or even 750 ti. Also consider buy used Video card. since your pc is so old and my opinion is that there is no point to buy new pc parts for so old pc.
Than if you take used video card for low money maby you can find used APU too lets say with 4 cores. to fit in your budget :)

So my suggestion will be:
If you buy new buy GTX 750 or GTX 750 Ti.

If you can find used Pick same video card since there is a lot of them used. and ad maby AMD A10-6700 used if you can find it too. just look that it is APU for fm2 socket.

I'm quite happy with the overall performance of my pc but not really when it comes to playing games, especially csgo. I live in the Philippines btw.

Just to clarify,

It's either:
A. A brand new GTX 750 or GTX 750 Ti graphics Card
B. Used GTX 750 or GTX 750 Ti and used AMD A10-6700 APU

So when I choose A, old AMD A4-5300 APU and brand new external GTX 750 or GTX 750 Ti graphics card,
and when I choose B, used AMD A10-6700 APU and used GTX 750 or GTX 750 Ti

Did I get that right?

Yes, this is what would i choose.
Well i will use option B. Used processor and used Video card. Since you have 2 core processor and mentioned a10 is 4 core APU. Also take in mind that 90% games take up to 4 cores so there is no benefit to take 6 or 8 core processor. This is my opinion.

For example i did assemble my whole Pc with used parts. I did look for used parts with minimal 1 year warranty. so i did assemble whole pc for 40% cheaper price and i am still safe for next 1 year if something fails.

Did you read full topic?

RX 460 is good choice but if you are buying used i do not think it will be cheap since it is released recently.
And for that old PC and old APU it would be shame to bottleneck RX 460.

Also maybe you will not use all cores and threads on CS:GO but if you decide to play some other games you might need it.
