Hi,

I have a new Samsung smart TV, model: UE55K5500. I managed to connect to my router, both with the TV and laptop. I installed Samsung Smart View application on the laptop, and shared a video file. Everything went fine. This happened yesterday.

Today I tried it again and about 30 miutes later "connection lost" message and video playback stops. I tried it 2 times, same result. Read in the forum to change DNS to 8.8.8.8 did, problem still exists.

Do you have any idea what it could be? I have a TP link router.
Thanks!

Hi jsmithepa,

Thanks for our reply! In the meantime I received a help at another forum, I had to attach a fixed/reserved IP to the TV in the admin page of the router. Seems like this has helped! So it was still something to do with wifi.

by the way, the TV had every other wifi-related functions working correctly, except the Smartview program. And yes, tried reboot, did not help unfortunately, but DHCP-reserving IP seemed to help, not to shout it too early!
First off, I don't who where they are selling this 8.8.8.8 magic pill, seems like many people try this wo knowing exactly what it does. DNS has to do with Internet, your TV talking to laptop has nothing to do with Internet.

Then, lets go to the symptoms, like the doctor always asks... when this happens, can your TV still able to do anything else network related? can it go out Netflix? If yes, your TV is STILL talking to the LAN, if not, then something is wrong with the TV connection to the LAN (LAN=your home network wiring/WIFI).

From laptop, do PING x.x.x.x WHERE x.x.x.x=IP of TV. This is a simple, basic "are you there?" query. This tests the basic "OK everybody is in the boat."

Of course you should had already REBOOT everything. First law of electronics, when things go awry, always REBOOT.

Hey, I think I have a solution.

Just try to put "SmartView" into your exclude list of Window Firewall and you should be able to play your media from your computer onto your TV.
