Hello, I have a solid wood frame around 3 feet tall by 1.5 feet wide and just shy of 4 inches deep. Glass plate on front and a veery weak wooden back. Im using the back to make a template to mount the MOBO, hard drive, videocard, power supply ect. My question is: Will plexiglass be a usable backing that is both non conductive and temperate to temperatures generated from a 4 core cpu? Or should I use something stronger? No overclocking. This build is strictly for functional decoration, Light gaming and entertainment.

It will be holding;
MSI N1996 mother board
4 gig supertalent DDR4
AMD Phenom II x4 785g chipset
Gigabyte GV-N630 Videocard 2ig
500 watt CX PSU

I plan on having a hole ported behind the cpu with a fan possibly mounted there for a little extra cooling. I would just hate to build this and have it melt and or horribly warp on me.

If the back is not visible use a metal frame much like the motherboard is mounted on within a conventional desktop PC.

Airflow and cooling is important. Match the setup, fans, and airflow within a conventional case. The only difference should be that the normally removable access panel on a desktop would be glass on your build.

Plexiglass will become brittle with heat and time, probably will develop microcracks ---> cracks over time, could build up a static charge, and provide no grounding as would a normal desktop "backing".

Just my thoughts and hopefully other forum members will provide further comment.
