AMD FX-9590 or changing the motherboard for Intel?

Hey everyone,

I've built my PC about two years ago and back then I was on a bit of a budget, which is why I went for the AMD FX-8350. I've decided to upgrade now, and after looking at my options I'm not entirely sure which one is better.

The AMD FX-9590 seems like a good option, but it has a reputation for being a space heater and I'll probably have to buy a water cooler to make up for it. Because of this I've started looking up Intel CPUs and the only reason why this isn't my instant pick is because I'll have to cash out on the motherboard too. Even with the water cooler for the FX-9590 I'll have to spend a fairly decent chunk of money more if I decide to switch to Intel.

So, my question: is it worth it? Intel is obviously better than AMD, but I'm not sure if the additional costs will make up for it.

Thanks in advance!

Solution
OC your 8350 as much as you can, that will get you near identical performance to a 9590.
So no, that processor is never worth it, let alone when you already own the same processor just slightly downclocked.

Huh. In that case I'll stick to my current processor. Thanks!
