Building a PC inside an original Playstation 3

Any ideas on what components to use for the 10 year anniversary of the Playstation 3? I'm thinking about a Mini ITX motherboard and a mini GTX 970.

Solution
The PS3 is pretty bad at reducing heat though, even with standard parts. Mine has to be elevated or it gets too hot almost immediately and the fans go full speed after like 2 mins and stay that way as long as it's on.

Hello there.

Personally, you'd probably be better off doing what I did with one of my PS3: (I've got dozens)
Install a laptop motherboard inside it.
Preferably one with a discrete GTX card on it. Usually, you'll only need to wire the power switch and extend the hdmi input/audio/USB wires.

Not even a SFX PSU?

Hi!

Where could I get those? Also, I always wondered if you could start a PC with the PS3's power button. Could that work?

Not even SFX PSUs and mini graphics cards?

Using the touch plate is quite easy if you know how to build circuits:
http://www.buildcircuit.com/modes-of-ne555-monostable-and-astable/

Just need to modifiy that to use a relay/opto instead of the led. ^^

Also, yes, an SFF PSU will work. Some people actually used it, and looks great:

And laptop motherboards can be found on ebay or amazon, etc. One good build would be using this for example:

But yeah, not cheap. xD

It looks a bit complicated at first, but I might be able to do that.

I've seen that video before. I wanted to know if anyone had done this before, and this guy apparently did it.

It would actually be cheaper than if I built it using desktop parts. Anyway, how would I even be able to power that thing?

I see. Eh, I really wanna go the desktop parts route. I'm gonna do some research and post it here whenever I'm done.

yeah, it's a common problem with older fat PS3s.

I almost dismantled mine trying to fix it before I found the elevation trick helping to reduce the noise, but it's still pretty loud even when elevated after a period of time. (also had to point a fan to blow my AC air directly at it as well)

So the other day I thought about it and decided I should try this out, it's not working as I still don't have the parts, but here's my solution:
1x Maxsun MS-H81IL motherboard, chinese stuff, but it's the shortest motherboard I could find. Compatible with M.2 wifi :p
1x 8gb Crucial DDR3 1600MHz
1x i3 4170, I chose this platform because I already own this cpu.
1x Arctic Alpine 11 GT (I already own it) or any low profile cooler
1x SilverStone SST-FX350-G - Flex Series, 350W, 80 Plus Gold
1x MSI GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GT LP
1x Any slim disk drive, drawerless, unit with eject switch preferred, I want to try to mod it to work with an external switch. I know I'm not gonna get the original capacitive/touch switches working, so I'm thinking of making a couple holes and using the slim's switches on it

And a few other cables to get usb 3.0 and usb 2.0 front slots, a few leds placed on the original places so we can see when it is on etc.

The gfx card is still too wide, so I might have to push everything a little bit deeper inside, but I think that is fine, it might look alright...

Please, if you have any suggestions I'd appreciate it, I might make a video on it if I move forward with this. I know that at this point any APU would make my job 10x easier, but the performance is still not quite on par, and I might try my i5 4460 if I see any heat headroom...
