Hi. Was hoping to get some feed back on my situation.

I currently have a system setup for procedural based rendering using IRAY and general gaming. I was thinking of adding a additional basic graphics card to increase the number of CUDA cores to speed up rendering.

Currently I have a 850 watt PSU running a GTX 970. I was thinking of adding a GTX 1050 which uses 300 watts itself. With a spare 50 watts would I run into issues? I am imagining it will be fine during normal desktop use but I am not sure if there is enough head room when they start rendering? The thing I am unsure of is that the 970 will be handling the monitors etc whilst the 1050 is simply used to add more cores to the process.

They will not be in SLI as the programs I use do not use it and I don't need it for gaming either so I am wondering if any one can shed some light on any possible issues.

Cheers.

The GTX 1050 only uses 75w of power-the 300w figure includes the rest of a typical system. Your 850w is more than sufficient provided that you are using a quality PSU.
